IMPORTANT NOTICE: Potential Discolored Water

On Tuesday, July 28, the City of Waterbury experienced a water main break. As a result, some WSA customers may notice temporary discoloration of their water.

The discoloration is caused by naturally occurring mineral sediment that can become disturbed during water main repairs. While the water is safe to use, it may appear rusty or brown.

If you experience discolored water:

  • Run the cold water from the faucet closest to where your water service enters your home for 10–15 minutes, or until the water runs clear.
  • While it is safe to shower and bathe with discolored water, it is not recommended to drink or cook with it. Wait until the water runs clear before using it for drinking and cooking.
  • If you have already used your hot water while the water was discolored, wait until the cold water is running clear. Once the cold water is running clear, run your hot water until it also runs clear to flush any discolored water that may have entered your hot water tank.
  • Avoid using the dishwasher or doing laundry until the water clears, as discolored water may stain light-colored fabrics.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Correction to 2025 Water Quality Report Postcard

An error was printed on the postcards recently distributed to town residents regarding the 2025 Water Quality Report. The postcard mistakenly indicates that residents may request a printed copy of the report via mail.

Please be advised that the WSA office does not have physical copies available for mail distribution. Instead, the complete digital version of the report remains accessible directly on this website. Residents who prefer to review a physical document are invited to visit the office to view a hard copy of the report in person.

The WSA office is located at 747 French St., Oakville, CT 06779. Regular operating hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
